Chocolate is supposed to be impossible to match with wine but like any other ingredient it depends on the chocolate and how it’s used.

Look up any guide to food and wine matching and you’ll find a list of foods that are regarded as anathema to wine. I’ve done it myself but have come to the conclusion recently that the problems are overstated.

Always knew @juliet49londonrdstroud was going to be my kinda restaurant from the oysters to the gloriously fresh asparagus with broad beans and stracciatella, textbook steak tartare and allumettes and tarte tatin. @ellypear cracking up over her TWO chocolate desserts. Me in seventh heaven with chips and roasties. Such a great place @williammrees and a lovely, lovely teamBristol’s latest opening @ragu.restaurant.bristol taking their name seriously with an (absolutely delicious) pea ragu. Served with shoulder of lamb, salsa verde and some wicked roast AND fried potatoes (as a side). Great focaccia with whipped bottarga butter too. #notafreebieCan’t beat a good steak frites - or a good soufflé suissesse. Also great to see such an exceptionally well curated wine list available by the glass. Nice work team @bankbristol. Welcome @lapinbristol #notafreebieRidiculously cute Jersey cows @blancpignondairyfarm producing deep-flavoured golden butter and ice creams. The black butter ice cream which is actually cooked apple with spices was particularly delicious.
